A local Empire Day committee held a Monday evening meeting to finalise arrangements for Empire Lay celebrations. President Robinson presided with 27 members in attendance. Subscription lists show £5 7s 2d raised for children's prizes to be distributed at the function. Sub-committees were formed to arrange gifts, and an address to be delivered by Rev. Rogers and K U Harris. Plans include start at 10.30 am sharp, helper duties, and provisions of 3 cases of apples and 2 cases of oranges, with a new flag pole promised.
