Port Stephens Harbour Prospects and Dredging Costs

Compiled by Fred Phillips and Dr Norman Pern, the Port Stephens harbour review outlines entrance width of 4,200 feet and head heights Yacaaba 707 feet Toumuree 620 feet, with deep water channels, surrounding islands, and sand banks. It covers navigable rivers Myall, Pindimar, and Tilligerry, potential wharves at Salamander Bay and Pindimar, rail links, and Royal Commission guidance favoring an overseas port. It cites 1911 findings, cost estimates for dredging and works, and argues Port Stephens could rival Newcastle as a major overseas port with proper development.
