Tax measure to fund unemployment relief in the Assembly
A bill proposes a 3d in the pound levy on wages income rents and dividends to raise about 3 million pounds for unemployment relief. Treasurer Stevens has worked with Taxation officials on collection and aims to seat the bill this week. The measure is temporary for at least one year. Some political circles seek to exempt basic wage earners from the levy but government doubt it will pass.
