Successful co operative movement boosts poultry trade there

A successful co operative society reports strong six month results for Miranda Trading Co operative Society Ltd with £32,226 sales and £4,409 net profit. The group backs dairy farming areas including Albury, with a new butter factory and appointed manager T Barber guiding plans ahead of cream reception. New Zealand butter output rises despite drought, with seven months to February 1928 showing higher tonnages than the prior year and stock levels at grading ports noted for butter and cheese.

German proposal to establish coal by products works

In the Maitland district the German plan to extract coal by products draws widespread interest. A Newcastle coalman notes Maitland coal favors gas but is poor for coke making, and only Borehole coal or other high quality coke coal suits benzol extraction. In Teralba and South Coast seams there may be viable coke making options, but Maitland coal remains unsuitable for benzol.
