Mining act stance on restricted rights and private land access
The Minister for Mines Sir Weaver said the Mining Department opposes alienating gold reserves with potential for further mining. He noted leases for grazing on old reserves, limited to grazing, preserving areas for miners. He cited NSW Act as liberal and discussed 1918 amendment allowing prospectors to enter privately owned auriferous land, with landowner interests protected.
