PRIMARY PRODUCERS SEEK ENDOWMENT TAX RELIEF
At a Lower Hunter meeting, Mr L B Fisher moved to exempt primary producers from the Child Endowment tax. He argued landholders bear the tax while others pass costs via higher prices and freights. The motion was carried as supporters urged abolition of the tax, deeming Parliament a charitable institution. Norea Ltd. will meet at Byron Bay on June 21 to vote on amalgamation with Ballina Lindsay and Bonalba manufactur ing firms, excluding three other Richmond Tweed companies from the bid.
