Northern conference proposes on elec tariff charges

A Gloucester visit revealed that the Northern Conference weighs proposed electricity tariff changes. Commercial manager Mr. Davis noted potential extra cost of 0.117 pence per unit under the current agreement with the Railway Commissioner. Council engineer Mr. Reid said a cautionary review suggests the council may benefit from shifting to the Electricity Commission general tariff if bulk-supply terms become unstable. A meeting between Electricity Commission and northern councils is planned to discuss tariffs and related issues while no change to bulk-supply charges is yet implemented.

The Public Works Department told Gloucester Shire Council that a second reservoir southeast of Ravenshaw and Thompson would cost about £2000 for piping. It warned existing pumping would fail to supply the new tank, suggesting a booster station near King and Church Streets at about £4000. Engineer Mr. D O Murray was asked to prepare detailed plans for review.
