Manpower rules affect NSW workers and exemptions stated
New South Wales Director of Manpower Mr Bellemore reports that manpower regulations apply to all ages. He notes a belief that those over 49 are exempt, clarifying exemptions only pertain to engaging women under protected undertakings, not terminations or transfers. In Lithgow court, 80 people faced penalties for offences linked to unregistered wireless sets amid a police and Postmaster General inspection. Government and party leaders clash over defence policy and wartime staffing implications ahead of elections.
