Royal couple escaped in Spain as plots aimed at them
A Franco-Spanish plot arc was foiled when police uncovered a bomb concealed in a railway carriage near Barcelona intended to destroy King Alfonso and Queen Ena as their royal train passed through a tunnel. Four priests were arrested over a second plan to blow up Barcelona Cathedral, while the royal chauffeur braked to prevent disaster.
