In a May 26 1937 letter from Wingham the author urges federal recognition and preservation of Henry Lawson's old home at Burunderee near Mudgee. He notes Lawson's close ties to Mudgee, the home’s solid state, and the need for Commonwealth guardianship with support from local figures including J T O'Brien and Grafton and Royal Australian Historical Society members. The piece calls on the Dalley Branch of the Australasian Society of Patriots and genealogists to lobby the Prime Minister and highlight Lawson's national significance.
