Catholic Ball Garners Strong Turnout and Jubilation
The first postwar Catho lic Ball at Majestic Theatre drew about 300 guests from nearby areas including Stroudard Krambach and Dyers Crossing with Father Walsh as guest of honour. Dancers enjoyed decorative towers ferns and balloons while jazz from Rhythm Boy Orchestra impressed. Prizes were won for lucky caps and whistles and supper by the Indies of the church received high praise. Organisers Jim Landers and Herb Wilson hailed a successful financial result and thanked contributors for the event.

Gloucester Chamber considers Dubbo coast highway proposals
The Gloucester Chamber of Commerce heard from NEMA and the Department of Main Roads on plans for a Dubbo to coast highway. The NRMA noted broad interest and future study, while Gloucester Shire Council outlined a developmental road proposal from Rockhuret to Carter's via Coneac Wet Creek and Benny's Top to Pigna Bar ney River. He learned more would be available in six weeks. Mr R Pepper cited local stores selling five cartridges in a tote. Mr Blanton urged greater supply to guard crops against birds. The motion was carried RTE.

Cattle Thefts On Increase In Maitland District
