Smart Retorts At Elections Flip Quick Wit To Counter
A British parliamentary candidate needs sharp wit to deflect hostile questions during campaigns. Anecdotes include F A Macquisten joking he longs to become a mother, Hemmerde dismissing a voter, and a Midlands exchange where a heckler is bested by a pointed reply about an interrupted passage in the head. Timidity is deadly for candidates.
