Closer Settlement Debate At Hawkesbury College
Mr. Ry McKerman of Rural Bank of New South Wales urges closer settlement in proven districts with bank financing up to 66 percent and potential government support to 80 percent. He proposes expert committees to survey lands, promote voluntary subdivision, and attract British settlers, while government funds cover public works and roads. Pipe smoking trends note King Edward and brothers as patrons, highlighting Mr Baldwins prominence.

Rabbit Pest Virus Tests Considered by CSIR Leader
Sir David Rivett of the Council for Science and Industrial Research told Australian Associated Press that initial shipments of Sir Charles Martin's virus for rabbit extermination arrived in Australia last week. Tests will assess harm to native fauna, then large scale trials on rabbit infested islands like Julia Percy Island may follow, with a government backed recommendation after evaluation. Rivett said myxomatosis is deadly to rabbit colonies in about five weeks, is contagious, and likely cannot exterminate rabbits completely, but could reduce the pest and confine it to certain areas.
