Dairy feed and butter yields in Australasian dairying analysis
A recent address by the Dairy Expert of the Department of Agriculture highlights the impact of feeding on butter production. It notes that higher yields stem more from feed quantity than cattle quality, estimating potential losses across New South Wales dairies of around 4.3 to 4.9 million pounds when feed quality or prices shift, with wide-scale effects on state dairy stock and output.
