Highland chief laid to rest in Skye burying ground
Norman Magnus, 2nd chief of Clan MacLeod, was interred at Kilmuir Dunvegan in a ceremony attended by a broad Skye and mainland assembly. The cortege departed Dunvegan Castle with pipers, and the burial service was led by Rev. R. P. Quilter, followed by laments and a farewell view of the chief. A later note recalls oyster-eating customs and a gift from Prince Edward to Lady Dorothea Nevill after her knife and fork method was seen as revolutionary. A Stuttgart gasometer, 320 feet tall, has just been completed in Europe.
