In the Legislative Assembly Mr O Reid argued servicemen with suitable qualifications should be encouraged to deal directly with landowners for land access. A German designed curved barrel rifle tested in London proves effective for street fighting. An Army marksman scored three hits from four shots on a round the corner target using a periscope sight. The weapon uses a small explosive charge to bend gas flow through a curved attachment with ten holes to slow the bullet.
Mount George resident A H Edwards recently bought an Arab stallion named Araby at Wellington New South Wales. The sire The Sheik, dam a thoroughbred by Kensington, Kensington listed in the AJ C stud book Sydney. Araby grey, 14 hands high, travelled 426 miles and arrived at Mount George in fine condition after a week’s journey from Wellington.
