LePore Sawy er's Invention Introduces Circular Saw Guide
N. D. J. McKee of Duncan, manager at West and Sharpe's sawmill in South Lismore, has invented a four circular saw guide that claims to let an unskilled person perform a sawyer's work. The device is described as adjustable with rigid locking on both sides of the blade, from behind the teeth to the collar if needed, and allows water to cool teeth to remove gum and obstructions while eliminating hemp packing that overheats and can break the saw.

Freezing Mud at Grand Coulee Dam Construction
At Grand Coulee Dam Washington engineers froze a 100 by 25 feet barrier to stop ooze and poured concrete for the foundation. A refrigeration plant with hundreds of pipes stored ammonia chilled the barrier while workers laid the foundation 880 feet below the crane, with concrete buckets weighing five cubic yards each. The process aims to secure a solid bedrock base for the $70,000,000 dam over the next three months.
