Sleeping berths added to North Coast mail trains
In May last the Commission for Railways provided second class sleeping berths on the Sydney to Murwillumbah service. Patronage was weak, cars moved to the North Coast mail with one berth attached at South Grafton each way. Extra charge for six sleeping berths, but overall earnings remain low. The Commission contends lack of awareness, though publicity confirmed. If occupancy improves, the service may continue.
