Water Act License Application For Gloucester River Pump

The Water Conservation and Irrigation Commission has received an application under the Water Act 1912 as amended for a license by Stanley Edward Martin to install a pump on the Gloucester River in Portion 25, A.A. Company's Grant, Parish of Gloucester, for irrigation of 10 acres. Letters supporting or objecting to the application with reasons should be sent to John Messner, Secretary, Water Conservation and Irrigation Commission, Box 27 G.P.O. Sydney, within 28 days.

Hybrid maize seed to be available next season

Hybrid maize seed will be available next season for commercial plantings. Hybrids may yield up to 25 percent more than best premontane varieties. The Agriculture Minister Graham noted the war halted the department’s hybrid breeding for six years but progress has resumed at Glen Innes and Grafton Experiment Farms. Seed of cregseg at Glen Innes and 80 acres imported American hybrids are being sown for northern tablelands and coastal regions. Field yield tests across the state will demonstr ate the value of hybrids. A Gloucester Local Land Board meeting is set for January 2 with district notices for special lease applications and land blocks at Bullahdelah and Gloucester.
