Destruction of Greyhounds by RSPCA Drives Market Change

About 150 greyhounds are destroyed weekly under RSPCA instructions from owners and breeders. Before racing restrictions the weekly kill varied from 50 to seven. Unwanted dogs had little chance of racing but after limits many quality dogs are sent away for destruction. Officials say owners insist on destruction, preferring not to sell for racing, while country demand for greyhounds to chase rabbits and hares remains.
