The notice lists men’s wear items including dark grey and natural all wool Flan Nels in small size with six to eleven each and only three available. Gloucester branch of the Primary Producers' Union held its annual meeting with renewed leadership. President A McFine was re elected along with Vice Presidents H Mundle and W J Stanton, and Hon Secretary M Newton. Delegates to the District-Pynnetl meeting were named. The meeting urged unity and loyalty to secure rights, debated dairy transport issues, butter prices, and regulatory matters, and aimed for improvements in wartime conditions.
The British aims to register civilians in Australia over 16 with personal identity cards to be carried by all. Each card will show name, address, signature, and witnessed mark, and address records will be kept at meal offices. Applications linked to electoral rolls and manpower records will enable emergency supply control and movement regulation.
The Maritime Services Board requires every boat in New South Wales to provide the name, location and description of the vessel and the owner’s full address to Circular Quay by a set date. Issued by Lieutenant General I. D. Wynter, the Second Military District Commander, under National Security General Regulations. Owners must forward details for boats in use at sea, estuaries, or navigation, and newly acquired boats must be registered within fourteen days.
State controlled charcoal kilns number 390 in New South Wales with 480 producing about 400 tons weekly. Sixty kilns idle as government holds cordwood contracts. Japan’s war entry spikes producer gas unit installs to about 300 per week, causing charcoal shortages. Timber exists but largely on private lands, delaying use. Plans aim to increase kiln output once timber supplies are secured.
A government appeal asks private landholders across the state to survey their properties for timber suitable for charcoal. The state will buy charcoal at wholesale rates, freight to Sydney extra, and set kilns and depots to boost substitute fuel production for war effort. Local councils are urged to organize producers and supply areas to support peak transport efficiency.
The Commonwealth orders immediate handing in of 303 inch rifles parts and sights including BISLEY and KING'S Model aperture sights from Melbourne makers. Pistols and cartridges for these rifles are also required. The Army warns further action if rifles are not surrendered promptly.
