James's Road Block Hero Captain James and Crew
Captain John James and a handful of men broke through the strongest Jap perimeter on the Sanananda road in New Guinea. They held James's pocket from December 19 to January 3, repulsing heavy assaults and severing supply lines. Corporal Ham Morton, badly wounded, delivered vital despatches and returned to Hugginses. Mrs. James, wife of the hero, recalls the regimental wedding held in camp with the colonel officiating.
