Cremation Gains Favor at New Rookwood Chapel
The Bishop of Bathurst Dr. Crotty spoke at the opening of a new chapel at Rookwood crematorium saying the church supports cremation. He noted burial grounds are often sacrosanct but not always, and warned that cremation may replace earth burial, seen as artistic and reverent in modern times. The speech contrasted cemeteries’ neglect with cremation as a chaste sacrament.
