Britain to launch 45 new ships in 1939 war program
British naval correspondent reports 1939 program will add 45 vessels totaling 455705 tons, a peace time record. Five battleships of 35000 tons at 30 knots with 14 inch guns, five aircraft carriers of 28000 tons, large cruisers 8000 tons, smaller cruisers 5450 tons at 33 knots with 10 inch guns.
