A London inquest in Southwark ruled the death of Henry John as accidental. The 42 year old Bermondsey man, employed at Butler's Wharf, contracted anthrax from a cask of Egyptian sheep pelts. Witnesses urged destruction by fire to prevent any infection, noting the bacillus’s resistance to formalin or acid. Medical students from Guy’s Hospital attended.
