Farmers split on enlistment aid at Primary Producers Union meeting
At the Lower Hunter and Gloucester District Council in Raymond Terrace delegates debated how to assist farmers who enlist for military service. Some urged exemptions or measures to keep farm work going, while others urged no obstacle to enlistment. A sub committee was set to study local positions as shortages of labor bite. The meeting also noted a government plan to form a stateside body to protect enlistment workers and discussed butter substitutes quotas.
