English treasure hunter rescued from Cocos Island quest
George Cocknell, leader of the Cocknell Stanton expedition seeking a £12,000,000 buried hoard, was found by Captain F. Lewis aboard the yacht Stranger near Cocos Island in the Pacific. Stranded and starving, the 20 year old Englishman had endured weeks alone after resigning from the expedition following disputes and an injury to a companion.
