Patriotic Dance Raises Funds for War Chest and Red Cross
A combined War Chest and Red Cross dance in Upper Bowman Hall on Saturday 15 August netted £31 12s 6d with additional donations later pushing total to £51 12s 6d. Prizes from a series of competitions included ducks, fowls, cash orders, and goods donated by local residents. auctioning produced strong sales and the event concluded with a large, enthusiastic audience and a final division of £15 16s 9d each to the Red Cross and War Chest funds.
