Fifty Year Anniversary Of London Bachelors Club
The Bachelors' Club of London, with over 1000 members, marked its 50th foundation anniversary a week ago. A postponed ball due to delays at South Audley Street premises reflected early rules when a £50 marriage fine existed, later reduced to £5 and now largely voluntary. The club began in July 1880 at a Kensington House ball hosted by 84 bachelors with guests promised the Prince and Princess of Wales.
