Glorious Gloucester River Scene Described in Detail
Reproduced here are two photos of the Gloucester River upper reaches. One shows a tranquil stream ideal for trout, with overhung brush meeting across the water. The other captures the first falls above Mr George Watsons house where waters part to plunge over a 60 feet cliff and mingle in a pool below. The river is a cascade of falls, some dropping 80 feet or more in white foam. The bank bears dense brush with a long slide track, vast ferns and tall timber festooned with elkhorns and rocklilies. The area is described as among the most beautiful rivers from Barrington Tops and urged to be preserved for tourists.
