Country Woman Joins NSW Liberal Country Senate Team
The Acting State Chairman of the Country Party, Mr J M Carter, announced the addition of Mrs Thelma Kirby to the joint Liberal Country Party Senate ticket for New South Wales. Known as Thelma Harvey, she has long lived in Bellata and previously contested Dubbo in 1947. She is described as a capable speaker with strong knowledge of country life and aims to advocate for country women in Parliament. The move is presented as enabling NSW women to enter the Federal Parliament for the first time. The statement stresses concerns over communism and the need to support the Mentzies Fadden Government by electing a six-member Liberal Country Party team. Authorised by J F Dredge.
