Gloucester Shire Council Minutes and Land Purchase Controversy

All councillors attended the Gloucester Shire Council meeting. Discussion centered on a contentious treatment works land purchase with a Department of Local Government review stating £492 2s 0d was not reasonably incurred, plus £4500 rental value of resumed land. council to seek ministerial clarification and possibly renegotiate.

Watch Presented to Reichert at Council Meeting

At Thursday’s council gathering Mr W Reichert received a gold watch under the late Theodore Hooke Hill’s will. The presentation recalled Reichert’s service in the NSW Parliament from 1920 to 1925 and his long friendship with Hill. The watch bears initials W.PL.R and a dedication noting appreciation for services rendered during his parliamentary career.
