Local notices report a second-hand wagon for sale through G. J. Clemson and various community updates. Several residents visit Glenboro, farms change hands, charity drives raise funds for Icelandic soldiers, andHarvest Festival plans are announced for Glenboro and Stockton churches.
Exhibits must be the exhibitor work and entries open to all. Contests cover school work manual training and more. Directors and clerks listed for each contest with entry cards available from the in charge clerk. All exhibits must be in place by 10 oclock Saturday morning. 3 PM.
Stockton notes report a Royal Flying Corps enlistment for B W Parnell and a church farewell for Rev C H Bristoll at St Matthew’s crypt. The Stockton Boys and Girls Club held a fair with high quality exhibits and a ten cent tea for club funds. St George’s Orchestra performed as St George’s congregation bid farewell to their pastor. John T. Russell farmer faced charges of assaulting M. Sigurdson, a hired man for J. Sigvardason, during threshing. Testimony showed Sigurdson insulted Russell and provoked the incident over a belt break on Russell’s machine from heavy feeding. The case was dismissed with each party bearing its own costs.
At the Twelfth International Soil Products Exposition in Peoria Illinois Manitoba carried most prizes for wheat. Lareo of Birtle won the world white championship with half a bushel of Manitoba wheat. Cooper of Treesbank, a prominent local farmer, won 2nd prize and W Carruthers of Methven placed third. Manitoba also captured many prizes for coarse grain and potatoes.
