FrontPage Award for Glenboro Gazette at MCNA meeting
The Glenboro Gazette won first place in the Tabloid under 1500 circulation category at the 1981 Better Newspaper Competition. It also placed third in Typography as part of the Manitoba Community Newspapers Association event in Brandon on September 16 and 17. The gathering included seminars and honors for members and publishers from across Manitoba.

PCH Construction Underway in Glenboro
Construction has begun on a 20 bed Personal Care Home in Glenboro on the south side of the hospital. The site is being levelled for the foundation as local businesses receive face lifts including Glenboro Pharmacy and The Clothes Closet. The Gaiety Theatre was re shingled earlier in summer. Harvest progresses with crops combining and potatoes digging aided by fine fall weather though early frost affects some areas.

Music Workshop Will Close With Concert in Tiger Hills
A joint choral and band music workshop runs September 29 to October 1 in the Tiger Hills area with 250 to 300 participants from Tiger Hills School Division towns such as Crystal City Somerset Mariapolis Bruxelles Manitou and Wawanesa plus W C Miller Collegiate Altona. Rehearsals take place at Cypress River United Church Holland Community Centre and various Holland sites, culminating in a public mass concert October 1 at 7 30 p m in the Holland Community Centre. The Glenboro Ladies Golf Club held a September 15 wind up at the Clubhouse with a pot luck supper for about thirty five members. Val Ford won the Club Champion Trophy and Handicap Playoff Trophy. Enid Johnson won the Consolation Event and led the 18 hole Pin Round, while Esther Taft and Enid Johnson topped the 9 hole Pin Round. Dorothy Parsonage and Val Ford earned break 100 pins. officers elected include President Val Ford and Vice President Louise Fraser.

Minister Len Evans announced a 197000 capital grant for Pelican Lake Training Centre Ninette. The 70 bed facility aids mentally retarded adults in the former Ninette Sanatorium. Upgrades include demolition of derelict buildings energy efficient windows and doors and paving roads and parking areas.

Manitoba Pool Elevators approves a 1982-83 capital program totaling $9,430,457. Projects include moving the Rounthwaite elevator to Nesbitt, building new facilities at Brandon and Graysville, extensive renovations, new seeds and special crops facilities, Farm Supplies upgrades, and Thunder Bay terminal maintenance.
