Water delays Glenboro sewer work during holiday weekend

Heavy rainfall slowed Glenboro sewer construction as workers struggled with waterlogged ground. A pumping unit dewaters soil to enable digging for the sewer pipe, using sand points to remove groundwater while a digger excavates and shows a strong water discharge from the dewatering system.

Ferenz Foldy, recently from Hungary after the 1956 revolution, brings advanced electronics training and will lead repairs with future color TV work. Swanis Lippings Reports From Regina Convention

Convention delegates President Harold Curll and Charlie Hall described a pleasant and profitable time in Regina last week. E. B. Pete Lyle of Calgary was elected Governor of the Western Canada District for 1958. Charlie Stalker of Rivers, Royal Bank manager, was chosen Lieutenant Governor for the Western Manitoba Division. At the Friday meeting G. M. Smith received a four year perfect attendance button and Curll received a two year button. Five members now have over four years of perfect attendance since the club began.

Fumerton 70th Wedding Anniversary Celebrated in Kelowna

Mr and Mrs J F Fumerton marked their 70th wedding anniversary on Saturday August 10 in Kelowna B C surrounded by family. Messages of congratulations included Queen Elizabeth II Prime Minister John Diefenbaker and local officials with a royal visit in person by Kelowna mayor J J Ladd and Regatta Commodore Geo S Mooney. Out of town relatives joined a quiet family dinner at the Royal Anne Hotel then attended the closing Regatta performance and were greeted by an ovation. The couple operated a Glenboro general store for many years and were honored at home by family and church attendance at First United Church.
