Space Camp 93 Enriches Manitoba Students Experiences
Brad Anderson and I from Glenboro School attended the first provincial Space Camp at the University of Manitoba August 14 to 22. Activities included Glenlea Observatory visits rocket building self-propelled vehicles SCUBA diving flight simulator space station remote sensing robotics and social events with youths from across Manitoba.

Village adopts orange glow street lamps in Glenboro
The village replaces mercury vapour lamps with high pressure sodium units in Glenboro last week. The Village Council approved the change in February after a Manitoba Hydro proposal, which included a repayment plan of nearly four years. The new lights emit an orange glow, are more energy efficient, and are reportedly more visible in all weather conditions.

Livestock Operations ByLaw Passes Third Reading
A special meeting of the R.M. of South Cypress council Aug 17 approved by law 1654 amending Part IV Rural District of By-law 1485 to set livestock operation setbacks. Council will attend the UM M Central District Meeting Sept 1 in Carberry. The roof at the Stockton Ferryhouse will be repaired with asphalt shingles from J and L Lumber Ltd as immediate action.

Stockton nuisance ground now has fixed hours
The tenth regular meeting of the council of the A M of South Cypress was held Aug 10. They renewed insurance certificates for Sept 1 1993 to Sept 1 1994 through H E D Leipsic. BDO Guenette Chaput was reappointed municipal auditor for 1993. The Stockton nuisance grounds are fenced with a gate and access to the dump is limited to Mondays and Fridays 1 pm to 7 pm supervised by Stan Desmarais. Ed Berry’s vacation Aug 3 to 13 was approved. Next meeting Sept 14 at 9 am.

Interim Superintendent Named For Tiger Hills Division
Tiger Hills School Division appoints Les Milne as interim superintendent after Don Erickson suffers a heart attack on August 16 1993. Milne will operate from the division office two to three days weekly until Erickson returns. Milne recently retired after 22 years leading Brandon School Division.

Glenboro Health District Reports No Deficit Policy
The Glenboro Health District board met on Aug 25 and updated its park enclave donations totaling 2842.96 dollars. Donations came in 665 in June and 484 in July as admissions rose in June with 30 and July with 17.
