Glenboro High Volleyball Teams Win and Compete in Tournaments

Glenboro Senior Girls beat Baldur 3–0 then played in an eight team tourney at Forrest, defeating Pilot Mound and Carberry but losing to Hamiota and Killarney 15–13 in the final set. Junior boys won two sets in Carberry, while Senior boys hosted a tournament, finishing 6–2 in round robin and falling 2–0 to Neepawa in the semi finals. A Middle Years Dance and Scholastic Book Fair events are noted along with a Central Manitoba School Choral Workshop attendance by seven Glenboro students and a 1000-person choir concert. Dates and reminders included.

Local Artist's Workshop Burns in Glenboro Fire

At 4 a.m. Saturday October 26 the Glenboro South Cypress Fire Department fought a blaze at the metal framed workshop of local artist Peter Sawatzky on the west side of Glenboro. Flames engulfed the interior. Deputy Chief Garth McIntyre said the fire was fully involved on arrival. Cypress River Fire Department assisted and extinguished the fire. Cause is undetermined and the investigation continues.

Special Meeting of Prairie Spirit School Division Board

Board of Trustees met October 21 2002 at Pilot Mound Manitoba to approve contracts and a debt by law. Senior Administration extended Arthur Gautron’s form 2A contract to December 20 2002 and approved Donna Pritchard leave of absence October 1 to October 20 2002 with 30 percent Guidance Counseling duties October 21 to December 20 2002. Accounts totalling 142 314 13 were approved including cheques 031006 to 031169 031170 031174 031220. By law 2003/05 a 218 000.00 debenture was given second and third reading and approved. A Ward 4 trustee vacancy was discussed and an inaugural meeting scheduled for November 5 2002 at 7 30 p m at the division office in Pilot Mound. The meeting adjourned at 9 20 p m.
