Manitoba Crime Stoppers Officially Launched Provincewide
The Manitoba Chamber of Commerce unveiled the provincial Crime Stoppers program on September 19 in Winnipeg joining two existing city programs in Winnipeg and Brandon. Greg MacAleese praised the launch while Willard Reaves of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers joined the team for promotions. Since 1984 Winnipeg-area crimes solved include six clearances, arrests, and nine thousand dollars in recovered stolen property.

Special Meeting on 1986 Board of Revision South Cypress
The R M of South Cypress held a special meeting on Tuesday November 12 1985 to address the 1986 Board of Revision and assessment complaints. Reeve John Moore and seven councillors attended with Municipal Assessment Valuator Don Hay present. Four assessment complaints were dealt with and gravel needs for 1985 and 1986 were discussed along with municipal accounts and a Weed Supervisor meeting with Cliff Cullen.

Strath Named President of Manitoba Pool Elevators
Spuris farmer Bill Strath was elected president by the Manitoba Pool Elevators board at its annual meeting. He succeeds Wallace Fraser who led the pool since 1980. Charles Swanson Brookdale and Bill Corbett Benito were named first and second vice presidents. Strath has served as a Pool delegate since 1974 and helped run a 960 acre Souris area farm with his son growing grains and oilseeds.
