Workers dismantle five bulk fuel tanks at the Mariapolis Co-op property south of Glenboro tracks. Two tanks will go to Swan Lake, one to Mariapolis, and two stay at the Glenboro Branch. A new plant is hoped for on the current Co-op site, with fuel delivered from Mariapolis until then.
The Glenboro Health District Board met November 18 1987 with attendees including Louise Christie Jack Hamilton Perry Horton Earl Malyon Eyin Paulson Allison Lind bloom David Mitchell Rosemary Shackel and Jim Westwood. The group reports a continued surplus and approves an Employee Assistance Program Policy to support staff. Manitoba Health Organization will start a Group Health Care Plan from January 1 1988 replacing Blue Cross coverage. The financial session reviewed the Mandi-Van and Ambulance statement.
Police report multiple incidents from November including drug seizure, thefts, vandalism, and break ins across Glenboro Treherne Holland St Claude and Notre Dame. Investigations ongoing. Crime Stoppers tips offered up to 2000 and deer poaching alerts issued. Applications open for RCMP joining under new policy. Board notes hospital staff changes and upcoming meetings.
Jeff Johnson of Cypress River is named 1987 Male Athlete of the Year for the Central Manitoba Sports Region. Nominated by the Cypress River Recreation Board, he beat two rivals Terry Letkeman and Bernard Gehring. Johnson plans world-class shoot appearances in Mexico and Zuhl with Olympic trials as a possible outcome.
