Christmas Cheer Hampers Run by Local Churches
Representatives from five local churches and Child and Family Services will again provide Christmas Cheer Hampers in the R.M. of South Cypress and Glenboro areas. Each hamper includes enough food for a complete Christmas dinner plus one gift per child. The committee aims to fund the hampers through Christmas Cheer jars in local businesses and offers tax deductible receipts for donations of ten dollars or more at the Village Office.

Community Christmas Card Jars Open in Glenboro
Local jars placed in several Glenboro businesses accept donations and names for the Annual Community Christmas Card. Names will appear in the Gazette on December 22 with a December 18 deadline at 5 p.m. Proceeds fund extras at the Personal Care Home run by the Health Auxiliary since 1964.

New Beginning of Agricore at Cypress River Meeting
The Cypress River Local Annual Meeting on November 17 announced the End of the MPE era 1925 1998 and the Sunrise of Agricore 1998 and beyond. Ken Harpelle welcomed members and Wendy Bulloch led a farewell toast. Speakers Jim Wilson and Reg Marginet outlined Agricore's structure vision and member equity plan. Frank Stevens reported a 2 percent market share drop due to space limits and a new Dreyfus terminal. Cypress River elevator handled 168 rail cars 170 trucks and generated 211 429 07 in Agri Sales for 1997 98 with 17 229 tonnes grain receipts year and 6 568 tonnes year to date fertilizer 75 125 tonnes. Garth Stephenson from Glenboro noted 1997 98 receipts 34 981 tonnes with 419 rail cars shipped and 310 total trucks. Sales reached 2 398 262 65 with fertilizer tonnes at 2 016 541. Irwin Plett of Treesbank spoke of the 73rd annual meeting calling it the best yet and mentioning 1998 rates 6 75 per tonne grain and 3 000 per tonne farm grain.

Light Up the Tree Memorial Seeks Community Gifts
The Palliative Care Committee in Glenboro invites residents to light bulbs on the town tree at Broadway and Donald in memory of loved ones. Donations of 5 dollars per bulb fund the Palliative Care Unit. bulbs available until December 23 1998 with lighting beginning late in November and again in December. A Remembrance Service is set for December 15 at Glenboro United Church.
