Cypress District gains subdivision authority in Manitoba

A November 17 1982 ceremony in Glenboro marked Cypress Planning District receiving subdivision authority from the Manitoba Minister of Municipal Affairs. Attendees included MLA Charlotte Oleson Deputy Minister Gerry Forrest and local officials as the district becomes the second Manitoba entity to assume local land use decision making.

Susan Dowd Rink Wins Lady Sahara Bonspiel Cash Prize

Glenboro skip Susan Dowd captained the winning rink at the eighth Lady Sahara Bonspiel defeating Darlene McMechan of Brandon. Dowd earned the Camel Trophies and $750, with All-Star honors to McMechan and teammates. Final placements paid $450 for second and $225 for third and fourth. Sixteen rinks began play with a Calcutta totaling $1,400.

Cypress River Credit Union holds 24th annual meeting

The Cypress River Credit Union Ltd held its 24th annual meeting on Monday November 15 1982 at Cypress River Memorial Hall with about 120 attendees. Officers were elected for three year terms and a new Over 60 Club service was announced for January 1 1983.
