Glenboro hosts its 4th annual Lady Sahara Bonspiel from Friday November 17 to Sunday with a 4 PM start Friday and a 3 30 PM finish Sunday. One rink will win the Molson Camel Trophy and 650 in first prize, 1450 total in prizes plus All Star trophy selections.
Snow began Sunday evening and continued into Monday, leaving over 10 inches of accumulation in Southern Manitoba. Snowplows and shovels cleared roads and sidewalks while several snowmobiles appeared in the area Monday afternoon. Cross country skiers are expected to hit trails soon.
The 1978 79 Board of Trustees of Tiger Hills School Division No 29 held its inaugural meeting at the Division Office in Glenboro on November 8 with all members present except three. Newly elected trustees Gerald Rutherford Alberic Marginet John W Chambers Evelyn Odell and Edith Catcheway took the Oath of Office before the meeting began.
The Glenboro area hosted early 1900s tennis with two hard courts on CPR grounds near the Glenboro Solo Store. By 1933 the club had 43 members, with rivalries among Holland and Treherne. Budge Trophy and Tip Top Trophy were contested. committee re-elections and officers were noted. Additional items cover property lease with the Glenboro Historical Society, salary seminars, and leave for Evelyn Jones.
The Remembrance Day service on Saturday November 11 held at the Legion Hall Glenboro was conducted by Frank Malyon with the combined choir. Val Ford sang as soloist and Sylvia Witherspoon played piano. Rev K Crasswell er delivered the message Today s enemy is indifference. Wreaths and poppies were laid at the Cenotaph on Broadway Street after the service.
The Criddles of Avenue exhibition on pioneer life runs November 4 1978 to February 26 1979 at Brandon City Hall. Originating with the Manitoba Museum of Man and Nature, it uses Criddle family sources to show late 19th century prairie settlement. Admission is free and hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. An opening ceremony occurs 2 30 p.m. November 17 with Alma Criddle attending.

The Canadian National men's volleyball team will host an intra-squad match at Glenboro School Gym on Tuesday November 21. The team, training in Winnipeg, aims to win the North American and Caribbean zone championship to reach the 1980 Moscow Olympics. Admission is 2.00 for adults and 1.50 for students. game time 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 7:00 p.m. A pregame clinic will be held for Glenboro students.
