Weir calls Manitoba to vote in June provincial election

The 57 constituencies have altered boundaries after a redistribution bill approved by Lt. Gov. Bowles. Nine new seats created, seven in Greater Winnipeg, nine rural seats removed. Party standings at dissolution were PC 31, Liberal 13, NDP 12, Social Credit 1. Premier Weir vows representation for every citizen before decisions.

Glenboro Dominates Division Track and Field Trophy

Glenboro collegiate teams win the Division Track and Field Meet held Friday May 23, edging Treherne 325 to 281 and Pilot Mound 167. Belmont and Baldur trailed. Winners include Tannys Christie Ellen Otto Shirley Dowd and others across sprint and field events with full ribbon results noted.

District 4-H Achievements Highlight Glenboro Year End

The Glenboro Homemakers 4-H Club wrapped up a successful year with 54 red ribbons and 17 entries advancing to Carman. Members named for Treherne Rally include April Williams Susan Dowd Heather Sveinson and others. Bake-Off queen Kristine Christie heads to Treherne as do demonstrations by Pat Hall Mary Ellen Rawlings and Robin Carels.

Glenboro Cub Six win Christie Trophy for highest standing

The Green Six won the George Christie Trophy donated by Bruce Christie to the Glenboro Cub Six with the best overall standing. Donna Christie presented the trophy to Dale Wallis as the Green Six edged Tawny Six led by Craig Taylor in average points for term one and the year.

Trophy Winners in Elementary Track and Field

The Glenboro Elementary School Track and Field Meet was held at the school Friday May 23rd. Trophy winners were Mavis Poole Junior Girls Robin Carell Senior Girls Craig Taylor Junior Boys and Rick Vezina Senior Boys. The complete results will appear in next week's paper or when available.

Local Boy Ken Barr Wins Manitoba Teen Driving Title

Congratulations to Ken Barr who won the Manitoba Teen Driving Competition provincial final in Winnipeg. His Glenboro win earned him an expense paid trip to the Winnipeg final and a chance to reach the Dominion Final in Edmonton in early July. The Jaycees sponsor the national event and Glenboro’s Chamber of Commerce supported the local leg.
