Glen Thornborough of Glenboro starred for the Manitoba Junior Hockey League champion Winkler Flyers in 15 playoff games leading with 52 points. The club won the Manitoba title and the Saskatchewan playoff cup, reached the Centennial Cup final where Thunder Bay won, and Thornborough earned Centennial Cup All Star honors before deciding on university scholarship options in Boston Alabama Alaska or undecided.

At the April 27 annual Manitoba Ladies Curling Association meeting Georgena Anderson of the Glenboro Curling Club was elected to the executive. She was nominated by Glenboro Club and joins a 22 member board, serving as immediate past president of Glenboro and as a district chairman of the Manitoba Association.

Oleson Receives Honorary Life Membership at Manitoba Officials Banquet
Stan Oleson was awarded an Honorary Life Membership of the Manitoba Association of School Business Officials at the Winnipeg banquet on May 21. He has belonged since 1962 and served as President in 1974-75. Charlotte attended with him and the couple is noted in the report.

Glenboro Hosts Biggest Townwide Yard Sale to Date
Glenboro’s second annual townwide yard sale drew 39 sales across the town on May 23 attracting visitors from Carberry Cartwright Ninette Killarney Baldur Belmont Warrenesa Elgin Holland Cypress River Winnipeg Brandon Mariapolis and the United States. Emma Billings of Carberry won the Glenboro package in the free draw along with golf certificate souvenirs and a food voucher.

Break-in at The Glenboro School causes window damage
The Glenboro School was broken into late May 23rd or early May 24th. Vice-Principal Bill Shackel found smashed windows and notified Principal Garth McIntyre. Principal office and home economics room windows were damaged. Estimated damage around 2000 dollars. No suspects yet. police plan interviews. The Glenboro Student Council has been asked to assist and appeals for information.
