Trip to Expo 86 Delayed for Haywood Rider and Horse

Don Hogan of Haywood, with Thunder the horse and dogs Pooch and Chico, was halted on a highway near Nesbitt by Souris RCMP and a Winnipeg veterinarian. A 10 day recuperation period was imposed after the horse’s examination. The troupe currently boards at a Nesbitt area farm with a recheck planned after the period. Hogan began April 29 aiming for a five month journey and plans to settle in the British Columbia mountains after Expo.

Colin Arason Wins Canadian Schoolboy Wrestling Silver

Canadian wrestler Colin Arason, a first year competitor from Winnipeg, earned the silver medal at the 41 kg division in the Canadian Schoolboy Wrestling Championships in Collingwood Ontario on May 2 1986. He defeated the Ontario Provincial Champion and Rio de la Cruz before finishing runner up and receiving a $1000 training grant.

What Will Happen to the Kinsmen Hall Glenboro

The Kinsmen Club of Glenboro held an informal meeting with few district residents to discuss the hall's future. They proposed forming a Hall committee to run the hall and relieve the club of duties. No decision was made, but further activity is expected.

Village Council Advances Ice Plant Funding Change

The May 6 1986 Glenboro council authorized payment to Manitoba Hydro 7239.99 for Main Street Manitoba street lights subject to program approval. It also authorised signing an easement with Bjorn Enterprises Ltd and approved the Artificial Ice Committee's change to Recreation Capital Grants to buy floor pipe instead of electrical equipment and controls for the ice plant.
