Wawanesa teen wins Silver at Winter Games

Gord Elder a 16 year old from Wawanesa captured the silver medal in the Men s Air Pistol 10 meter event at the Canada Winter Games on February 26 He was one of 22 shooters representing 11 provinces and territories Elder has three and a half years of shooting experience and also placed second at the National Crosman Airgun Championship in Hull Quebec in February He is the son of Keith Elder who won shooting gold at the 1967 Canada Winter Games.

Lieut Governor Johnson Set to Visit Glenboro March 12

Lieut Governor George Johnson will resume his rescheduled Glenboro visit on Tuesday March 12 with the same itinerary as before. Canada Post 2nd class mail rates rise March 1st despite cabinet delay until June 1st, worsening industry impact. Gazette plans to report further effects in coming weeks. Weather notes show mean temperatures near normal with heavy snow.
