A Glenboro group hosts a Skatathon to raise funds for artificial ice. The event runs Saturday March 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Glenboro arena with pledges via the school Co-Op store and Glenboro Motors. Lunches offered at the rink.
Eighty year old Willard Witherspoon, longtime Glenboro pharmacist since 1939, shares a prolific career and local history with his wife Elizabeth and daughters. Born February 20 1896 he recounts early pharmacy methods and the shift to prepackaged remedies while remaining active in community service and not yet ready to retire.

On February 27 a School Bus driven by Royce Budd struck Fred Jewsbury’s car on Prov 258 south of Glenboro causing over $800 in damage though no serious injuries. The next day at Lyall Street and Murray Avenue Bruce Christie and Jacqueline Joss collided, with about $1500 damage mainly to Christie’s car, under snowy poor visibility.
The Nordic squad visiting Crystal City on February 26 dropped a 4-3 overtime decision, their third straight overtime loss. Greg Vertz Bob Penner and Blake North each tallied once, Ken Vertz added the lone assist, and Glenboro took six of 14 minors and two of four majors. Goalkeeper Guy Weedmark played for the Nordics.
The Glenboro midgets lost 5 3 in Friday’s game, dropping the two game total point series 10 9 to Hartney. Scorers for Glenboro were Gerald Barr with two goals and Ron Wertz with one. Their next home game hosts Elkhorn at 7 30 Sunday.
The Glenboro Jets hosted Baldur 14 and Under and finished 4 four. Scorers for Glenboro were Bryce McDougall Bob Thopson Mark Cummings and Todd Wither spoon. Lee Cummings made many saves in Glenboro net as the Jets end the league schedule and prepare for playoffs.

Four American students join Kiwanis exchange with Arlington SD for the twinning program. Gerald Barr rink led by Nadine Christie Andrew Gillingham and Cheryl Greer won the first event. second and third places noted with other teams. Oleson rink scored a seven ender. Senior basketball teams head to Provincial Small Schools Tournament in Steinbach on March 19 20. Science Fair entries missed Brandon event due to storm.
