Ottawa unveils six year 5.2 billion farm aid plan
On June 20 2002 Prime Minister Chretien and Agriculture Minister Vanclief announced the Agricultural Policy Framework a 5.2 billion plan over six years with 1.2 billion in direct bridge payments to help farmers facing bankruptcy or drought. Provinces must contribute 40 percent bringing total funding to 8.1 billion though premiers criticize lack of full trade-injury compensation from U S subsidies. Saskatchewan Manitoba and Alberta weigh their 40 percent shares as Ottawa pushes forward with the plan.

Well wishes go to Linda Clark Bert Clark and Morley Brown who were patients recently. Local residents Myrna Clark and Helen Elliott enjoyed an afternoon in Brandon with shopping and supper. Families Clark and Murray Cox reunited at Wawanesa Park, while Millie Clark Merle Aarhus and Mina Robinson shared a Drive Inn supper. A Luna Moth appeared at the window, and a rain last night brought relief before heat. Congratulations to the Class of 2002 grads. Thought For Today notes faith in an all knowing God.

Mosquito B Team Wins League Tournament in Close Final
Glenboro Panthers B Mosquito team coached by Greg Smart and Maurice Hutler won the league tournament after a rain delay and a tense 8-7 final over Pilot Mound. The nine players, led by Jory Coates and Josh Wytiick, advance to the Regional AA Tournament on July 6/7 and will bring two extra players from town of 800.
