Glenboro Red Cross Swimming Lessons Start July 5

The Glenboro Red Cross swimming program runs July 5 to 16 with Kiwanis Club sponsorship. Registrations are taken by elementary teachers or John Thomson, fee $1.50 per person or $5 per family. Barbara Hall will coach swimmers at Kiwanis Beach this year.

Manitoba education costs and 1964 division report

Estimated at mT a cost of 80 375 dollars with a 46 000 dollar government grant. Taxpayers in Manitoba fund all education costs through the board. For 1963 estimates stood at 51 112 while actual expenditure reached 52 685. The divisional board will publish its annual financial report for 1964 next week. People are urged to study the report and understand school operating costs within the division.

Five Days of Harness Racing at Brandon Fair

Harness horses from across the prairies head for Brandon June 28 through July 2 for five twilight sessions at the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba. Races start at 5 p.m. daily with five heats plus final at 7 30, featuring live tests and photo finishes under RCMP supervision.

Glenboro Chamber approves grants and fair plans

The Glenboro chamber met Monday approving a 75 dollar grant to the Glenboro Fair Board a 50 dollar award to the education committee and a 65 dollar grant to the Glenboro Ball Club for diamond improvements. The fair is set for July 13 and 14 with midway games planned by Roy Wallis Joe Hilhorst Jack Hazelwood and Frank Presunka. Sports Day is planned for Sunday July 4 with a strong ball team showing including two teams from North Dakota.
