Local notes report Edmonton visitors Mr. and Mrs. Vern Carrothers and family with Mrs. Hanna Carrothers. Sympathy extended to Rene Van Den Bussche's family after his June 16 death. funeral was June 20 at Swan Lake with burial in Holland Manitoba. About three inches of rain fell over the past week and a wild storm lashed the area in the early hours of Wednesday. Basements suffered seepage and sewer backups, causing flooding in several homes.
St James residents Mr and Mrs W P Inglis and Mrs Alf Palmer attended the Milford reunion on Sunday June 12 renewing acquaintances. Mr and Mrs Inglis were guests of Mr and Mrs Palmer and Mrs Dale before returning home. Mrs Gardiner’s health is fair to poor after a hospital visit in Brandon. Best wishes go to Mrs D Jones and Mr L McLeod in Treherne Hospital. Sunday school children will move to new classes next Sunday morning with an invitation to all parents and children to attend the promotion service. The Last Supper by Wm Campbell was presented and dedicated to the memory of the late Mrs Wm Campbell. Weekend visitors included Mr and Mrs John English and Mr and Mrs Cliff Batters from Winnipeg. A farewell party for Mr and Mrs Lombaert and family was held at Memorial Hall with gifts from Belgian Bowling and bingo groups. Mrs Lombaert received a corsage. Congratulations to Joe Kane and Sharon Campbell on their wedding Saturday June 18. Mrs J Gardiner and family hosted visitors from Pilot Mound and Winnipeg. Miss G Millard of Winnipeg visited H Benny and Mrs L McLeod. F Walterson of Brandon celebrated a 25th wedding anniversary. Mr and Mrs Bryan Arnson enjoyed Bermuda. Sympathy to Mrs Wm Christie on her sister Laura’s death in Portland Oregon. Local residents Mr Hyde and others golfed at Carman.
